Take an ensemble of likeable characters, a picturesque location and give them a series of low-stress comedy-drama adventures, and you`re on to a winner. Katrina and Stella can both be pretty annoying and/or detrimental, but they also have their good points. In the UK, series 1, 2, and 7 were released in one set and series 3–6 in two sets - each set containing two discs. The series was created by Michael Chaplin and produced by Nick Pitt, Paddy Higson, Jeremy Gwilt, Stephen Garwood and Rob Bullock.

The estate is now turning a profit and Stella is offered a job in South America provided the estate passes inspection by the bank's chief at the Midsummer's Ball. While the fictional Glenbogle estate in Compton Mackenzie's Highland novels place the estate near Ben Nevis, [2] the series is filmed in and around the Cairngorms, Badenoch and Strathspey, with Ben Nevis replaced by the fictional Ben Bogle. When Paul Bowman-MacDonald suddenly turns up, Archie and his mother Molly are shocked and upset to learn that his father once had an affair, and that Paul was the child produced. British ratings in the first five series were high, but lowered after the departure of several of the main characters (Archie, Hector, Lexie, Duncan and Katrina). A Russian cosmonaut and his wife, who may invest in Paul's plan to turn Glenbogle into a luxury spa, pay a visit.Read all Paul's goddaughter Amy shows up, a relentless troublemaker, and begins to shake up Ewan and Zoe's relationship. Ewan drowns his sorrows at the pub and is arrested by the police after finding his father is cheating on his mum. Lexie wonders whether she has what it takes to be Laird after Archie leaves Glenbogle to go mountain climbing in Nepal with his sister Lizzie in honour of their late father.

Additionally, we find out that certain characters either have engaged in adultery in the past or are currently in an adulterous relationship (those relationships always end). Alastair Mackenzie went on from Monarch to fire up a career in films which in the succeeding three years since he left the show has been a little less than stellar. It was, however, a thoroughly entertaining series and over sixty-four episodes it was impossible not to fall for the dotty mix of characters who inhabited Glenbogle and its environs. Golly has to decide whether to give his new son Cameron away to his late partner Meg's sister or whether to keep him.Throughout the first three series of the show, while Archie was moping around with uberbitch Justine and droopy Katrina, fans were wishing the dozy young Laird would spot the perfect mate standing at the castle Aga. Paul tries to persuade Lexie to stay at Glenbogle with him, but despite their attraction, Lexie takes Molly's advice - and the story of Hector and Donald's parting to heart.

Paul tries to hide his feelings for Iona as he is asked to give Iona away at her wedding with Malcolm. A petition was formed by 21-year-old "Boglie" Emma Richards to ensure that lead character Archie stayed on the show, but it failed when the actor left the show midway through the fifth series. Golly is devastated when Andrew and Molly start to make plans for their wedding and moving in together. P But Lexie is the one who wins him in the end, and she proves to everybody (even viewers who might initially have doubted that the two of them would be a good fit) that she truly does love him ─ persistently and unselfishly. In The Netherlands series 4-7 were released in an edited form of 50 mins per episode instead of the UK 60 minutes.Duncan's pen pal Marie-Helene decides to come to stay at Glenbogle; Duncan has been telling Marie-Helene he is Laird and Archie is forced to be Head Ranger for the week. Chester tries to organise a date for him and Isobel, while Jess investigates why Golly hasn't been sleeping in his croft. Fresh from prison, convicted poacher Tam Cooper arrives in Glenboggle and turns things topsy-turvy when he purchases land on the estate.
